Today, the need for spatial information to guide urban land use planning is essential, due to the multiple (environmental, socio-economic, etc.) factors involved in the dynamics of the growth of cities, and thus directly affect people who live in them. Therefore, in this paper we use s Multicriteria Analysis and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technique in order to define potential areas for residential land use in Resistencia, a city over 400,000 inhabitants, with problems for spatial growth due to socio-environmental characteristics of its location. The results show the good ability of the west and northwest of the city to host new residential facilities based on an analysis that includes environmental and accessibility issues.
