The paper explores different ways in which indigenous people, the local government, inter-cultural schools, NGO´s and anthropologists mobilize, produce and dispute meanings on indigenous cultures in a conflictive context in the town of Ingeniero Juárez, Formosa ( Argentina) . The different cases analyzed should be thought in the frame of multiculturalist ideologies but also in the processes of reconfiguration of political struggles and the inclusion of cultural identities. The focus is on some scenes that took place in the town and in bilingual schools during the commemorations of the “Week of Aboriginal people” in 2013 and in dance and memory workshops conducted by colleagues, toba/ qom neighbors and toba/ qom teachers and myself.
