Agricultural Crop Residues or stubble are an important source of renewable energy, as long as they are used sustainably. This work presents the first steps towards elaborating an integral model that allows to evaluate the bioenergetic potentiality of a region, considering technical and environmental aspects. The discussion focuses on the province of Córdoba and the stubble derived from soybean and corn. The model considers a quantitative-georeferenced description that allows to map out the bioenergetic potential from crop residues with a high spatial resolution. The results show that the total mass of stubble is 3.875.909 [tons/year], with a contribution of 1.467.885 [tons/year] of soy residues and 2.408.024 [tons/year] of corn residues. To measure its potential, the bioenergetic content contained in these wastes is equivalent to 17 times the fossil energy content produced by the Vaca Muerta oil field, throughout 2020. If this waste is pelletized and burned in thermal power plants to generate electricity, it could supply 89% of the demand of Córdoba province.
