Movimientos de población en un rincón de la pampa (no tan) gringa: El distrito de La Paz según los censos de 1869 y 1895

Abstract

La provincia de Entre Ríos creció a un ritmo superior a la media nacional entre los dos primeros censos nacionales. El departamento de La Paz, un territorio reducido en el oeste entrerriano creció entre 1869 y 1895 aún por encima de la media de Entre Ríos. Es objetivo del presente artículo realizar una aproximación al impacto sociodemográfico que tuvo la movilidad de las personas en este departamento. La provincia fue teatro de implantación de políticas públicas de colonización que estimuló la llegada de inmigrantes de ultramar. Sin embargo, podremos observar la importancia de las migraciones tanto internas como de países limítrofes que matizaron el tradicional enfoque aluvional de la historia demográfica argentina del período. Las fuentes de información utilizadas han sido las cédulas censales elaboradas para el departamento en ambas compulsas censales.The province of Entre Ríos grew at a rate above the national average between the first two national censuses. The department of La Paz, a small territory in the west of Entre Ríos grew between 1869 and 1895 still above the average of Entre Ríos. The objective of this article is to analyze the sociodemographic impact of the mobility of people in this department. The province was a theatre for the implementation of public colonization policies that stimulated the arrival of overseas immigrants. However, we can observe the importance of both internal and neighbouring countries migrations that qualified the traditional alluvial approach of the Argentine demographic history of the period. The sources of information used have been the census cards prepared for the department in both census papers.
