Environmental deterioration impacts the health and well-being of human beings, putting the existence of life on our planet at risk. Research on this subject shows that the behavior of human beings is one of the decisive factors in environmental deterioration. The objective of this paper was to evaluate pro-environmental beliefs and motivations. An intentional sample that included 387 adolescents and young adults from the city of Buenos Aires and Greater Buenos Aires (Argentina), was obtained. The adaptation into Spanish by Vozmediano and San Juan of the New Ecological Paradigm Scale (NEP) and a brief questionnaire on pro-environmental motivations, were administered. The results of the analysis of variance of the NEP scale scores show that young adults hold proenvironmental beliefs to a greater extent than adolescents; Regarding the dimensions of the NEP, a more ecocentric and less anthropocentric posture predominates in young adults. Adolescents have a greater pro-environmental motivation in terms of participating in pro-environmental activities, as well as in demanding a higher pro-environmental education.
