In the last century, Spanish national identity has been subjected to several interpretations, and represented through different symbols and practices. There is a substantive body of knowledge about the identity and political culture of the Spanish community in Buenos Aires for the period comprised approximately between 1875 to 1910. However, we know little about the dissemination of the Spanish national imaginary after the latter date. This work seeks to shed light on the process of the Spanish community nationalization "from below" between 1910 and the end of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) by looking at the discourses and themes put forward through different means by the Patriotic Spanish Association and the Spanish Cultural Institution to several different audiences.
