The province of Corrientes is the main producer of planted forests according to the last national survey of sawmills carried out by the National Secretariat of Agroindustry. Its territory has 254 sawmills installed that generate by-products, which are considered by most industries as waste to be disposed of. In this sense, burning, despite being an illegal activity, is the most widely used and, consequently, it generates serious consequences, both for the environment and for human beings. In this context, the objective of this work is to evaluate the effects derived from the burning of forestry-industrial waste in urban areas near sawmills, using the San Isidro neighborhood (Concepción, Corrientes) as a case study.
