A research proposal is presented that investigates feeding difficulties in children from 6 months to 6 years of age from different locations in the Province of Buenos Aires. The main objective is to know the influence that family practices around eating as well as maternal history of eating disorders have in the appearance of feeding difficulties in children. Feeding problems in childhood are the result of the interplay between physiological and psychosocial factors. Parental practices around eating are defined as certain strategies or behaviors used frequently by parents to facilitate or limit food intake, these practices refer to certain parenting feeding styles. The instruments proposed to answer the research question are the Argentine Scale of Feeding Difficulties in Children (EADAN), an ad hoc questionnaire designed to assess family practices around eating and the Eating Disorders Inventory - 3 (EDI-3). The results of this research proposal would contribute to early detection of feeding problems and to design intervention strategies aimed to promote healthy development of children.
