The discovery of several individuals of a carnivorous plant of the genus Drosera in a site of high conservation value in the Nahuel Huapi National Park (PNNH), required the unequivocal identification of the species, in order to take appropriate management measures. To identify it, the analysis of its morphological characters was complemented with a genetic study, based on the comparison of the DNA sequences with those of other species present in databases worldwide. Based on all the evidence, the species was identified as D. rotundifolia (sundew) of circumboreal origin and exotic to this region. Once the identity of the species was known and with strong indications that it had been introduced to the site due to anthropic causes, the protocol for early detection and rapid action on an incipient invasion was applied, which consisted of three exhaustive review campaigns of the site and manual root removal of all individuals present. Prevention actions will continue until the eradication of the species is guaranteed.
