For this analysis we have selected four blogs written by German university students who spent a few months in Argentina and three journalistic articles on the same topic. Our aim is to discover how these experiences are described, which the role of the nationhood is and how Germany and Argentina are discursively represented. As hypothesis we consider that nationhood could be a category that separates “the Argentineans” from “the Germans”, even if this does not imply the superiority of one of them. As an analytical tool, we use Reisigl and Wodak's (2009) discursive strategies, especially the nomination and predication strategies, which can be connected to Membership Categorization Analysis (Schegloff, 2007; Hester and Eglin, 1997). We also take into account how discourses construct, reproduce, transform or even destroy national identities (de Cillia, Reisigl and Wodak, 1999). In fact, we see that nationhood is a relevant category, since we find a great amount of references to both countries and their inhabitants. Hence, we point out four ways of how nationhood emerges in the analyzed texts.
