Lo mismo se observó en PY para la ingesta de verduras (OR=1,6), frutas (OR=1,8), carnes (OR=2,8), lácteos (OR=2,8), productos azucarados (OR=3,9) y bebidas azucaradas (OR=2,3).
Objective: It was proposed to analyze food intake and its variations during confinement in the first wave of COVID-19 in Argentina (AR) and Paraguay (PY), in 2020, and the impact of self-perception of anxiety on consumption. Material and methods: An online survey on sociodemographic characteristics, habitual food intake, self-perception of changes in consumption during isolation and anxiety was implemented, and a logistic regression model was developed to analyze the association between the variables. 2621 volunteers from AR and 2164 from PY participated. Results: Only 46% of AR and 36% of PY usually covered the recommendation of 2 servings/day of vegetables and the recommendation of 3 fruits/day was reached by 11% in total. Only 1 in 4 participants drink enough water and optional consumption products (processed and rich in sugar, saturated fat and sodium) were regularly present in a significant proportion. 56% of AR and 72% of PY expressed anxiety about the pandemic situation and confinement, affecting their diet. In RA, the perception of anxiety significantly increased the OR of modifying the habitual consumption of vegetables (OR=1.4), fruits (OR=1.7), meats (OR=1.6), dairy products (OR=1.09) , sugary products (OR=2.1) and sugary drinks (OR=1.6). The same was observed in PY for the intake of vegetables (OR=1.6), fruits (OR=1.8), meats (OR=2.8), dairy products (OR=2.8), sugary products (OR =3.9) and sugary drinks (OR=2.3). Conclusions: In conclusion, confinement has modified eating habits, which may have an impact on the immune status and general health.
