After the twilight of the excessive optimisms of the nineteenth-century insdustrialisms over the positives potentialities of labour respect to the processes of subjetivation and human emancipation, during the twentieth century several analyses have stressed the way in which the labour practices take part in the production of symbolic fixings and of subjectivities reified. The factual processes in the labour area were accompanied in the theoretical ground by the models' exaltation which tend to highlight the technical-productive aspects and to cut off the connection that the labour activity presents with other areas. In relation with this, we examine here certain salient features of the contemporary societies respect of labour, close to some of the principal theoretical frames on the subject, in order to situate this analysis in relation with other instances inside the institutional systems constitutive of human action. In this way, we analyze concepts from Horkheimer, Kracauer, Habermas, Gorz, Méda, Bauman and Sennett, concluding with a brief discussion on the exposed.
