Effects on other microorganisms

Abstract

Sesquiterpene lactones are natural and semi-synthetic compounds displaying interesting biological activities, including antiprotozoal, anti-inflammatory, and cytotoxic among the most studied. Some compounds belonging to this group have recently been described as promising antimicrobial hits. In this chapter, the antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties will be discussed, taking into account the basic scaffolds ordered following their biosynthetic origin.
