The Argentina liberal-conservative magazine El Burgués (The Bourgeois) (published between 1971 and 1973) was a peculiar experience in the local media landscape in those years. It resumed the canons of the new journalism of the 1960s, crossing juncture notes with theoretical, historiographic and cultural reflections, adding an ironic sense of humor ad a sarcastic use of images. In this paper we focus on analyzing the presence of the violence issue in the burgeois pages, serving centrally two axes: the Argentine situation during the “Argentine Revolution” second stage and the international context marked by the cold war. We seek to expose how the fortnight´s optics promoted a link between local and international leves, under a binary conception of politics, where it claimed to strengthen the liberal identity.
