The proposed method employs two nested optimization models. In addition, a simplified model is also presented that is valid under conditions that are normally met. This simplified model is applied in an example. The results obtained show the great impact that the proposed method can have on the quality of the estimation produced, as well as on the reduction of the cost of the required instrumentation.
