In the last years, the field of social and human sciences shows a renewed interest in the images and their role in different social transformations. Regarding the sphere of politics, different works highlight the weakening of parties and the increasing personalization of politics, which produces an electoral behavior oriented by the “image” of the candidates and not by the claims of a politic program or party membership. Despite this, little attention is devoted to understand the impact of the images on the constitution of commitments to leaders, movements and slogans in the political field. This is why we will approach to two topics closely related to this problem: the role that visuality plays in the legitimization of political relations and the symbolic effects of the image of the candidates. For this, we recover and articulate the contributions of Barthes (2014) and Bourdieu (2013), in order to deconstruct the social meanings that are presented as evident -semioclasty- and understand the affinity between perceptual and valuative schemes -dispositionalist aesthetic- in political commitments. We will complement this argumentation by a brief analysis of three figures centrals in the elections of 2019, belonging to the coalition ‘Juntos por el Cambio’: Mauricio Macri, María Eugenia Vidal and Miguel Ángel Pichetto.
