In this article, I take as a starting point an exhibition held at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bahía Blanca, in 1991, entitled "Kitsch in our days", which was curated by Gustavo López. From there, I wonder about the relationship between poetry publishing and kitsch in the 1990s. As part of the methodological approach, I review the theoretical literature with special attention to the problem of evil: kitsch is demonized for introducing a principle of indistinction into the art system. Like poetry for Plato, it will be expelled from the art system for its imitative appearance. From here, I think of possible critical uses of kitsch from the relationship between kitsch and poetry in the nineties. First, I review that relationship in the case of some publishers such as Belleza y Felicidad, Deldiego and Vox. And then I focus on Berreta, by Marcelo Díaz, and on the poetic work of Fernanda Laguna, to observe how the critical uses of kitsch work in each case.
