During the last decades, there have been important transformations in the Alto Uruguay misionero region (Argentina) mainly related to the saturation of the agricultural frontier and the greater integration of the area with the rest of the province and the country. These changes have affected local producers by provoking a complete transformation of the current breeding conditions. Traditional production and reproduction modes are in crisis, and new life strategies emerge. The interest of this ethnographic work lies in addressing what the reproduction of current family farming consists out of a perspective focused on daily life and not on the analysis of large structural processes. We will emphasize the substantial differences developed within the phratry, therefore we demostrate that children take differential biographical trajectories according to gender, age, position in the family structure, and their inheritance relationship, based on being heirs or being excluded from the goods to be transmitted.
