The Brazilian election of 2018 was a political contest under the sign of crisis, uncertainty and metamorphosis. In order to analyze the dynamic diversity of the electoral conjuncture, it is necessary to take into account on the one hand, who were the main (in) qualified candidates who dominated the electoral contest (Lula, Jair Bolsonaro and Fernando Haddad); and on the other hand, to study the salient characteristics that express the results of the elections (the fragility of the Workers’ Party, the desertification of traditional forces as “Medebistas” or “Tucanos”), and the rise of new parties as the “Partido Social LIberal”). Both elements will make it possible to observe -with greater precision- the continuities and ruptures of the Brazilian political horizon with the far-rightist Jair Bolsonaro as president.
