This brief article uses methodological references and empirical demonstrations to reflect on the importance of understanding the political players considering their previous social experiences. They became a solid gateway to analyse political processes as they acquiesce to: describe the characteristics of its members and from then on make associations which aid the understanding of the processes intersected by the original political parties; acknowledge how belonging to a certain social sector affects political practices in specific contexts; and analyse how learning experiences of political sociability in certain environments are conditioning factors on assuming representation. Even when recognising politics as an autonomous field, those issues reclaim their relevance in the analysis of characteristics, attributes, behaviours and practices of those who specialise or work in politics.
