This article analyzes the online coverage made by the three main national newspapers in their digital version: La Nación, Clarín and Página/12, regarding the nationwide televised presidential speeches aired during the second term of former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (2011-2015). Particularly, it is important to recognize the attributes that the media coverage assigned to the different elements present in the online news articles: 1) the main speaker 2) the public policies involved and 3) the nationwide televised presidential speech, as a direct communication strategy to the citizens. The article argues that the media elaborate a narrative construction based on the discursive logic of the spectacle, characterized by personalization and decontextualization of facts. Therefore, the coverage tends to emphasize the speaker´s personality traits instead of the more complex aspects related to political implications and institutional background.
