Appearing in February 2013, El oficinista, by Argentine writer Guillermo Saccomano, narrates the mishaps of an administrative clerk in a city posed as if plunging into the world chaos abyss. The metropolis condenses in its image all possible forms of alienation and violence. It is a view of the city as a hideous being, surpassing the boundaries of the mere urban landscape to establish itself as a sickly protagonist which condemns the sensitivity of a subject who usurps it while he, in turn, also alienates himself within it, who does not openly perceive himself as the instigator of the chaos, the frantic rhythm and the exceeding stimulation, nor of the fear or the despair, thus reversing the roles of the subject and the milieu categories and reminding us of the idea of the decentred postmodern subject who has turned, from breeding ground of the crisis, into its scenario.
