This article starts by identifying a very specific feature of Javier Milei's discourse: anti-radicalism, i.e., the singling out of the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) as the party responsible for having brought the worst evils to the country. The libertarian leader erects a solid temporal boundary in 1916. From his perspective, when Hipólito Yrigoyen first became president, Argentina abandoned a path of progress and embraced decadence. This is a stance on our history that, today, is curious, as 1916 was not a date that has been the subject of recent controversy. Moreover, it is not in keeping with any centrality of the centenary party in today's politics. In this article we explore the meanings that the frontier erected in 1916 condenses in Milei's narrative. We hope that this will offer us a new avenue of entry from which to explore libertarian identity as it is configured in Argentina today.
