The process of agriculturalization has significant negative impacts on soil and water resources, derived from the wide use of pesticides. The aim of this paper is to analyse the impact of the current agroproductive model associated with the use of pesticides on soil and water quality conservation service, through an indicator, in the Quequén Grande river Basin (CrQG) and in the different agroecological units (UAE) that constitute it between 1988-1998 and 1998-2008. Methodologically, the indicator "soil and water quality conservation" (CCSA) was calculated at the Cuenca and UAE level. The results show that, for CrQG, the CCSA indicator showed a continuous decrease. In addition, UAE1, UAE5 and UAE6 were shown to be the most affected in both periods. It is concluded that the consequences on soil and water resources are not homogeneous, but depend on the characteristics of each UAE. It is essential to contribute to develop preservation strategies that facilitate the transition towards a sustainable agriculture model.
