The objective of the article is to analyze the role of regional organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean in terms of energy transition after the Paris Agreement (2016-2022) and the factors that promote energy cooperation within them, from the perspective from the Latin American School of International Political Economy (epi). The methodological strategy is mixed, since both quantitative research techniques were used and qualitative ones. The main finding is that the propensity to cooperate to decarbonize energy matrices by regional organizations is not determined only by the dependence on imported fossil fuels, but also other factors such as political stability and size of the block, as well as of maximizing international financing and investment opportunities.
