The lack of appropriate analytical resources has hindered knowledge of the population characteristics and social experiences of trans people. For this reason, various offices, agencies and institutions have recently expressed concerns regarding both equity and human rights, as well as the quality of the produced data. In this scenario, the importance and necessity of taking measures is a basic premise that meets practical challenges: how to do it. This paper presents some considerations on the scope and limitations of statistics with a “gender perspective” for this purpose and offers recommendations for the development of population studies with a transinclusive perspective.
