In this paper we present two models about the hunting in the mixed Nothofagus and Austrocedrus forest of Patagonia. These models account for the hunting of middle-large sized ungulates (Hippocamelus bisulcus and Lama guanicoe) in the forest and the forest-steppe ecotone. Models were formulated by combining ecology and behavior of preys, historical data, and the available archaeological data on hunting practices in the forest of Patagonia. The evaluation of the models was performed using the information from weapon lithic technology and zooarchaeological data from Cerro Pintado site, Cholila showing that these archaeological data match with the inside the forest hunting model.
