Hubble Space Telescope (HST) imaging and long-slit spectroscopy with GMOS-Gemini are presented for the radio galaxies 3C 381 and 3C 284. We are studying the ionized regions located far away from the nucleus known as Extended Narrow-Line Regions (ENLR). The lineratio diagnostic diagrams show that the ionization state of these regions could be explained by the interaction between the radio jet and ENLR’s material. This is in agreement with the velocity fields found in both galaxies. We also discuss photoionisation by the AGN through the spatial behavior of the ionising parameter U, and through matter-bounded clouds proposed by Binette et al. (1996).
