In this paper we propose to develop one of the various possibilities of research on the relationship between theater and film: the appropriation by the cinema of expressive elements of theatrical origin. This work arises within an ongoing investigation in which we focus on the discursive mechanisms of disintegration theater (Pellettieri, 2000)— emerging in the Argentine cultural field in the nineties— which converge in a sector of contemporary cinema. We will analyze the thematic and rethoric level of the theatrical play La paranoia (Rafael Spregelburd) and its extrapolation in the film Todos mienten (2009, Matías Piñeiro). Our goal is to extract a set of norms in both media through the concept of intermedial dialog (Pérez Bowie) in order to determine the productivity of both. Finally, we will propose the notion of cinema of situations to describe a particular body of films whose expressive procedures of theatrical origin define a cinema that privileges staging and composition of profílmics elements to the detriment of the story told
