La ciudad de Uppsala y su paisaje: Montañas simbólicas, montículos reales y modernos museos

Abstract

Los montículos majestáticos son colinas artificiales donde se dice que habrían sido enterrados legendarios reyes nórdicos. En su carácter de “montañas simbólicas”, han sido erigidos preferentemente en paisajes de llanura del sur de Escandinavia. A partir del caso de la emblemática ciudad sueca de Uppsala y su entorno, el presente trabajo aborda el conjunto configurado por los montículos reales de la antigua Uppsala, explorando el destacado papel cumplido por el patrimonio arqueológico, cultural, histórico y museístico en la articulación entre el pasado y el presente; el tejido urbano y el paisaje rural.Royal mounds are artificial hills where legendary Norse kings are said to have been buried. As "symbolic mountains," they have been erected primarily in the plains of southern Scandinavia. Based on the case of the emblematic Swedish city of Uppsala and its surroundings, this paper addresses the complex formed by the royal mounds of ancient Uppsala, exploring the prominent role played by archaeological, cultural, historical, and museum heritage in the articulation between the past and the present, and the urban fabric and the rural landscape.
