Habitualmente cuando se habla de los problemas ambientales y la arquitectura se pone el acento en los aspectos relacionados a la naturaleza. Sin embargo, desde la perspectiva latinoamericana se puede verificar que los mayores impactos se darán en la mayor creación artificial del hombre y donde habita la mayor parte de la población: la ciudad.
