Llamó a esa coincidencia teología política.
The paper deals with the formal structures that are shown when the political absolutus operates as an absolute. Therefore, the paper does not attempt to demonstrate the existence of a political absolutus. Nor does it attempt to find the ontological status of that absolute. Nor does it try to justify the way in which that absolute acts, because if we admit that this political absolute exists, we have to admit that it operates consistently to its status as absolute. In order to define the limits of the subject it is necessary to turn to Carl Schmitt. Schmitt’s originality consists of bringing together politics and theology. He called that coincidence political theology. But its deficit was not having studied better the theological-political tradition to know better the formal structures of the conducts of an absolute political power. In this paper I deal, first, with the best paradigm of medieval political theology (Aegidius Romanus) and its description of the formal structures of the operation of an absolute monarchical power. Then I present a synthesis of the confluence of politics and theology in Schmitt. This confluence will help, thirdly, an approach and a comparison between Schmitt and Aegidius. I try to show that in the most remote origin of the formal structures of the operation of an absolute sovereignty the categories of classical theology are already present.
