This article enquires into intellectual practices and reflections arisen in Cuba in 1966 as a result of the analysis of articles published by one of the most emblematic cultural diffusion media of the Revolution: Casa de las Américas. That year and as a consequence of the confluence of cultural and political factors, renew stances in relation to intellectual work appeared, and the profession itself was problematized in a Revolution that is building socialism in an underdeveloped Third World country. ¿What from the work itself remains unabated -it inherent to the specificity of the job- and what is transformed in favour of the role intellectuals have in the new society? Opposite positions arose around this and other questions.
