This article depicts the urban mobility main problems emerged from the restrictions of circulation and use of public transport, imposed by the policies to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (MABA). Based on previous empirical research and an online survey carried out during the quarantine, in the second week of May 2020, and on recent debates about the topic, the paper aims to think about future mobility addressing three concepts: the idea of public and safety to think on public transport and the concept of active mobility as an alternative to private motor transport. Thereby, it aims to go further the sustainable mobility recommendations by situating mobility in the local context, considering the role of the state, the metropolitan scale, its inequalities and the daily experience.
