This paper aims to determine the connection that Hegel exposes in System of Ethical Life (SdS) and first Philosophy of Spirit (JPG1) between recognition, love between the sexes, and relation of parents and children, a relation that in JPG1 is developed from the concept of education. My general thesis is that love and the relation of parents and children/education are relations of recognition in SdS, but not both in JPG1. The notion of recognizing in SdS includes the reciprocal and natural -sc. not customary - intuition between the sexes, parents and the child. On the contrary, according to JPG1 not all relations of reciprocal intuition and knowledge are relations of recognition, but only those established through customs of the people. This excludes love as a relation of recognition, whereas education can only be understood as a relation of recognition insofar as it is a formative process through which, via the transmission of language within the family, linguistic and customary recognition is achieved between family members and members of the people.
