The Argentine education system is not homogeneous, and there are discrepancies linked to the supply and demand of education, with the dual public-private nature being a main source of inequalities. This paper aims to contribute to the diagnosis of this situation by characterising the schooling conditions faced by secondary school students according to the type of management of their school. Intersectoral gaps in performance are also assessed, and their evolution is analysed based on the PISA 2000 and 2009 surveys. The results allow us to affirm that there is no clear trend towards greater equality of opportunity.
