The aim of this paper is to think about a new possible articulation between the touristic activity and social memory in contemporary times, which we will frame into what Lash and Urry (1997) refer as a phase of disorganized capitalism. Therefore, we shall identify certain main axes to think about this relationship, such as the predominance of the ideas of mobility and travel in current societies; the profusion of city marketing phenomena linked to the aestheticization and re significance of the past (and memory); and the new ways in which the urban is reconfigured within this context. Furthermore, we understand that these processes can be developed as from thinking of culture as a manageable resource, which allows us to talk about a culturization of economy as inherent to contemporary social working. Finally, we believe that analyzing the new articulations between social memory and tourism leads us to stand critically to these phenomena, opening possible ways of thinking new action alternatives.
