In this paper, we analyze whether the preconditions of the constitutive principles of the “deliberative democracy” model are guaranteed today in Argentina . Based on data revealing of rare socioeconomic and educational situation, we consider the possibilities of achieving a reasoned deliberation in Argentina. Whether the concept of deliberative democracy is normative, because it does not expect to describe what reality is, but to show how it should be; the use of a deliberative process is conceived as a process of justification or legitimacy of political decisions. Being the political legitimacy a gradual affair (while more deliberative and democratic the decision-making process, more legitimate the decisions will be), I expect to find out if it is possible today in Argentina an acceptable degree of political legitimacy, according to the deliberative republic model.
