En defensa del conservadurismo epistémico integral

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en presentar una forma de conservadurismo epistémico que sea integral, y que sostiene lo siguiente: a partir de que S cree que p, como respuesta exitosa a su entorno, p adquiere un estatus epistémico favorable por el cual es racional que la creencia se mantenga hasta que aparezcan evidencias superadoras que sean alternativas e incompatibles con p. Además, se indagará en desarrollos posibles que puedan hacer de la versión integral un principio prometedor y a la vez plausible, para concluir que otorga racionalidad a nuestros compromisos doxásticos mediante la constante mejora de las habilidades cognitivas.The aim of this paper is to present a form of epistemic conservatism that is comprehensive and which holds the following: from S’s believing that p, as a successful response to their environment, p acquires a favorable epistemic status because of which it is rational that the belief is maintained until overcoming evidence appears that is alternative and incompatible with p. In addition, its elementary characteristics will be investigated that can make the integral version a promising and at the same time plausible principle, to conclude that it gives rationality to our doxastic commitments through the constant improvement of cognitive skills.
