The article analyzes the return migration of Argentines in Spain, proposing a typology based on the motivations, expectations and ambivalences that these people wielded when returning to their country of origin (period 2008-2017). Based on a qualitative, longitudinal and multilevel analysis, the decision-making processes of these returnees are examined, focusing on the type of migration project planned. The temporality of the returns is also analyzed with the aim of identifying definitive (residential establishment in origin) and transitory (circular and re-emigration movements) migration projects. The proposed typology is novel in the field of migration studies and proposes three types of return migration projects: 1) return project where the economic motivation prevails (macrostructural level), 2) return project where the motivation to capitalize-mobilize resources prevails (meso-relational level), and 3) return project where the affective-familial motivation prevails (micro-individual level).
