This article is a contribution to anthropological theories to consider the analysis of memory as a central topic in the restoration processes of subaltern groups. In 2017 I began an ethnographic research accompanying the Mapuche people of the Lof Millalonco Ranquehue in Rio Negro, Argentina, and the Ruka Lawen collective, a Mapuche ancestral medicine space located in this community. In this paper I analyze the memory processes in which the Mapuche people from these groups reflect jointly on the processes of loss, the critical events in their history and the metaphorical and political use of lawen, the ancestral medicine.
