This article arises from the exchange of two doctoral theses in progress based in the city of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires. One of them deals with the professionalisation of first division football players of two clubs in La Plata (2019-2023), and the other with the labour situations of theatre actors and actresses in the same city (2019-2021). In the dialogue of our work, we found some points of contact in two work spaces that, a priori, could be thought to be dissimilar: the sporting and the artistic. We propose to comparatively analyse the work trajectories of football players and actresses in contemporary times, considering the category of identification (Brubaker and Cooper, 2001) from a gender perspective (Scott, 1996). To do so, we will take into account the notion of extended work (De la Garza, 2006), as it allows us to include diverse perceptions about work experiences in precarious environments (Paugam, 2015). To do so, we recover the analysis of our fieldwork from a qualitative perspective, based on in-depth interviews and participant observation. With this study, we hope to contribute new ideas and questions to think about different ways of engaging with work from the point of view of women workers.
