In this work we intend to share the description and analysis of two events occurred in the field of the religious spatiality, in which, traditionally, devotees to the dedication of the Virgen del Valle meet to participate in her cult in the city of San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, Argentina. This place is trans20 | gressed and (de)sacralized by subjects seeking pleasure and sexual desire. The first event we have recovered for analysis is contextualized at the beginning of the 1990s when, with the arrival of the Civic and Social Front to the government of the province and, as part of a campaign to “moralize customs”, spirited social control and surveillance policies were implemented over the divergent territories and bodies. Facing these disciplinary practices, the homoerotic subjects had to come up with tricks not to be caught while “picking up”. The second event occurs regularly during the most attended religious festival in the north of the country: the Fiesta de la Virgen del Valle. During this celebration, according to the testimonies of homoerotic subjects, a social and political license of eroticism and sexuality is enabled. A review of some testimonies of subjects who have experienced the search for sexual pleasure in these two events allows us to understand some of the meanings of these practices and the dimensions of significance of sexed bodies, experiences governed by their own rules and not by “technologies of discipline” Foucault (2003).
