This article aims to analyze the processes of social and political organization of socio-community educational initiatives that are developed in popular neighborhoods of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. The interest is to document the material, social and daily conditions that shaped the processes of collective action involved in the works. The analysis is based on the historical ethnographic fieldwork carried out for more than two decades in popular neighborhoods in the northern area of Greater Buenos Aires. It is a hypothetical anticipation of the article that the emergence and maintenance of popular educational initiatives in the study area, far from constituting a homogeneous block of action, stands out for the protagonism of different collective actors. We refer to actors who produced demands around education in different temporalities and changing expectations according to the relations with the state and the collective articulations achieved.
