«For a Theory of Art» (1928) sets the art that Macedonio Fernández proposes in this theory against realistic art, in a radical way. From this position this writer and art theoretician proposes to build laws for experimental artistic practice. I analize in detail certain fundamental aspects of this theory and its aesthetic, scientific, philosophical and epistemological basis, in order to specify in what sense Macedonio Fernández looks to formulate laws of non-representational art, particularly in verbal art. Main points of this exam are: to think antirealism as a postulation of non-representational art; the importance of Autorística, Lectorística and the building of Vertion or Procedure as main elements of non-mimetic art; the primacy of artistic enunciation over the objectifying artistic enunciate; the constitution of experimental art based on constant inventive.
