Those who first mobilized were the workers from FIAT CONCORD Sauce Viejo: they staged a march that was an initiative of the rank and file - without the consent of the local leadership of the Metalworkers Union - that received harsh repression. This work intends to interpret this conflict from a gender perspective, linking the relationships of tension and relaxation established with the trade union leaders in the light of certain characteristics of masculinity and notions of family present in this working-class community. The mobilization and the repercussions of the suffered repression, analysed from a non-dichotomous perspective attentive to the workers gendered experiences, allows us to affirm that during the "rodrigazo" the notion of family enhanced the autonomous mobilization of the rank and file but also relaxed the tensions with the union leadership, fundamentally after the repressive climate produced by the police attack.
