Libros didácticos sobre Sistemas de Información Geográfica basado en el uso de software: final de un ciclo

Abstract

Con la publicación del libro Curso de Sistemas de Información Geográfica (2026) concluye una línea temática que fue iniciada hace 30 años y que tuvo como objetivo la realización de libros sobre SIG basados en el uso de software con sus herramientas de análisis espacial para la realización de ejercicios prácticos. En el año 1996 tuvo inicio esta tarea al adecuar de manera didáctica algunos trabajos de aplicación realizados en la década anterior y al año siguiente fue publicado el libro, Enseñar e investigar con Sistemas de Información Geográfica (1997) destinado a la capacitación de docentes de nivel medio ante la reforma educativa que se estaba implementando en Argentina. Este primer resultado inició el desarrollo de una línea temática que se mantendría hasta hoy contando con la publicación de 10 libros (7 troncales y 3 derivados) que fueron siguiendo el avance de la revolución geoinformática iniciada en la Geografía Humana. El presente trabajo muestra el recorrido realizado hasta el actual libro que se utilizará en los próximos años en asignaturas y cursos dictados por los integrantes del ÁREA SIG del Departamento de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Nacional de Luján.With the publication of the book Course in Geographic Information Systems (2026), I conclude a thematic thread that I began 30 years ago, which aimed to produce books on GIS based on the use of software and its spatial analysis tools for practical exercises. In 1996, I began this work by adapting some application projects I had completed in the previous decade for educational purposes, and the following year, the book Teaching and Researching with Geographic Information Systems (1997) was published, intended for training secondary school (Middle and High School) teachers in response to the educational reform being implemented in Argentina. This initial result initiated the development of a thematic thread that continues to this day, resulting in the publication of 10 books (7 core and 3 derivative) that have followed the progress of the geoinformatics revolution that began in Human Geography. This work outlines the development process leading to the current book, which will be used in courses and subjects taught by members of the GIS Area in the coming years. In my academic career, it represents the culmination of a particular theme and thematic thread, as it is the last book I will produce on GIS software.
