The rainfall variations in Roque Sáenz Peña were evaluated. Daily meteorological data for the 1959-2022 period were collected. Using this data, fundamental indicators such as median, mean, and precipitation quintiles were calculated. Additionally, the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) and the Precipitation and Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) were applied, as they provide a holistic understanding of climate patterns by analyzing both wet and dry events. The results indicated that the annual median is 1016 mm, with a rainfall pattern characterized by marked seasonality. During summer, rainfall reached 830 mm, while in winter, minimum values were 3 mm. Furthermore, drought events are notable for their duration and frequency, occurring every 3 or 4 years according to both SPI and SPEI indices. It was also identified that not all dry and wet events in the region can be attributed to the oscillations of the global ENSO phenomenon. These findings contribute to the understanding of pluviometric variability, which is crucial for forecasting and seeking ways to mitigate its influence both in the city and its surroundings.
