La estetización, la nivelación y el saneamiento como metáforas del cambio urbano en La Boca

Abstract

Este ensayo constituye una reflexión acerca del cambio urbano que se vislumbra en el barrio de La Boca (Ciudad de Buenos Aires). Sostiene que dicha transformación responde a tres impulsos diferentes pero relacionados: el impulso estético, el impulso nivelador, y el impulso higiénico o saneador. Concluye que además de estar modificando la fisonomía de este peculiar barrio porteño, los tres impulsos constituyen poderosas metáforas de lo que acontece allí en un plano social.Si bien el escrito entrelaza el trabajo etnográfico realizado en terreno desde 2010 con consideraciones téoricas que abrevan en el campo de la antropología de las ciudades, no es un artículo académico stricto senso pues incluye además disquisiciones que surgen de mi condición de ciudadana y vecina de La Boca.This essay is a reflection around the urban change that is seen in the neighborhood of La Boca (Buenos Aires). It argues that this change addresses three different but related impulses: the aesthetic impulse, the leveler impulse, and the sanitizer one. It argues that in addition to modifying the appearance of this particular neighborhood, the three pulses are powerful metaphors for what happens there on a social level. The writing interweaves ethnographic work done in the field since 2010 with theoretical considerations from the field of anthropology of cities. Although, it isn´t strictly an academic ar-ticle because it includes disquisitions arising from my status as a citizen and resident of La Boca.
