This contribution is part of an agreement signed between the National University of the Northeast and the National Geographical Institute, through which the UNNE undertook to update four topographic maps of scale 1: 100,000. The objectives are to generate and update data provided by the IGN and recognize changes in land uses and coverage. The methodology was based on the identification of geographical entities contained in the Geographic Databases, visual recognition of the georeferenced entities in satellite images included in the World_Imagery, updating and creation of new graphic entities. The results of the update allowed to recognize some important territorial changes such as the expansion of urban ejidos, the increase of institutions, the inclusion of new landscapes, the expansion of the road network, the reduction of forest cover and the increase in extension occupied by land for crops.
